How to Get to Teshima: Ferries from Takamatsu & Uno
You can reach Teshima by ferry from Takamatsu (about 35 minutes, ¥1,450 adult), from Uno (¥780 to Ieura), or from Naoshima’s Miyanoura Port (about 30 minutes, ¥820).
Teshima has two ports, Ieura and Karato, and the right one depends on which art site you want. Fares and routes below are from Benesse Art Site’s official access page and the operators’ own fare pages, checked on 5 November 2026. Timetables change by day and season, so confirm the day’s sailings before you go.

Child fares are about half. “n/a” means the duration is not confirmed. Fares are from the operators’ own fare pages: Teshima Ferry (t-ferry.com), Shodoshima Teshima Ferry (fare table revised October 1, 2023) and Shikoku Kisen. Benesse Art Site’s access page lists different amounts for the two Honmura routes (¥1,220 and ¥620), so we use the operators’ figures. Teshima Ferry takes cash only.
Which Port: Ieura or Karato?
- Ieura: closest group of sites includes Teshima Yokoo House and the Needle Factory.
- Karato: the group that includes Teshima Art Museum, Les Archives du Coeur and La forêt des murmures.

From Takamatsu
The direct Takamatsu–Ieura ferry takes about 35 minutes. The Takamatsu–Karato ferry also takes about 35 minutes at ¥1,450, but the official page lists operation only for two past dates in August 2026, so do not rely on it without checking. The Takamatsu–Ieura timetable differs by day of the week. For example, Tuesday departures from Takamatsu are 07:41, 13:05 and 18:03. See our Takamatsu port guide for the port itself.
From Uno
Shodoshima Teshima Ferry connects Uno with Ieura (¥780) and Karato (¥1,050). The official timetable carries footnotes about days when a particular sailing does not run, including one that says it cannot be taken on the first Tuesday of each month. Check the PDF timetable. From Naoshima
Shikoku Kisen runs Miyanoura to Ieura in about 30 minutes at ¥820. The service runs Mondays, Wednesdays to Sundays and holidays from March 1 to November 30, and Mondays, Fridays to Sundays and holidays from December 1 to the end of February. Finding Naoshima Note: In winter, Teshima’s art sites close Tuesday to Thursday, and the ferry days are fewer. Plan the day on a Friday to Monday and confirm the sailing. Our winter closures guide lists the full picture.
Getting Around Once You Arrive
The Teshima Shuttle Bus costs ¥400 for adults and ¥200 for children aged 5 to 12, with a PDF timetable on the official page. Bicycles and cars can be rented at Ieura and Karato ports through the Teshima Tourism Association, with limited numbers, so call ahead. E-bike availability is not stated on the official page.
Setouchi Triennale Ferry Booking Trial
The Setouchi Triennale committee is considering online reservations for ferries during the 2028 festival. A trial is scheduled for November 14 and 15, 2026 on the Takamatsu–Naoshima (Honmura)–Teshima (Ieura) route, with booking opened on October 27, 2026 through the official e-tix page.
