Naoshima Reservations: Which Sites Need Booking?
Six Benesse Art Site facilities are listed as date- and time-specific: Chichu Art Museum, the Hiroshi Sugimoto Gallery, Art House Project Kinza, Minamidera, the Lunar part of Ring of Fire, and Teshima Art Museum.
Book these first, then fit the rest of your day around them. Everything below comes from the official general information page and facility pages, checked on 5 November 2026.

Notes on Each
- Chichu: a date and time are required. On-site tickets exist, but they are usually sold out, so online is the plan. Read the Chichu ticket guide.
- Sugimoto Gallery: the official page requires a date and time, and it is open year-round except the January 12–18, 2027 closure.
- Minamidera: entry is by reservation, and it is part of Honmura’s Art House Project. See our Minamidera article.
- Kinza: reservation required, and the maintenance notice lists a closure through January 2027.
- Ring of Fire: the Solar part is ¥600 online, and the Lunar part is time-specific. It is closed Monday to Thursday with no holiday exception stated.
- Teshima Art Museum: time-specific and limited per slot. See the Teshima ticket guide.
Sites Where Timed Booking Is Not Listed
The general page does not list Lee Ufan Museum, Naoshima New Museum of Art, Benesse House Museum or ANDO MUSEUM as date-and-time specific, although online tickets are offered. Our hours and prices cheat sheet covers them.
Finding Naoshima Note: Online tickets have been required at Benesse Art Site since October 1, 2024, according to the official general information page, and online prices are lower than on-site prices. Book the timed site first, because it is the one you cannot rearrange.
How to Sequence a Day
- Book your most important timed site first.
- Work backward from its last admission.
- Add one or two walk-in sites around it.
- Leave a buffer before the last ferry.
