Setouchi Triennale 2028 Tickets: What’s Announced

As of 5 November 2026, the official Setouchi Triennale site has not announced 2028 passport types, prices or sale dates. Dates and venues are public, and a ferry-reservation trial begins this month. This page separates what is confirmed from what is not, so you can plan without guessing. Every fact below comes from the official Triennale and Benesse Art Site pages.

Confirmed: Dates

SeasonDatesDays
SpringApril 14 – May 2845
SummerJuly 25 – August 2027
AutumnSeptember 29 – November 1245

The home page describes the festival as lasting 100 days, while the three season counts add up to 117. The official dates page is the better guide. See our main Triennale 2028 guide.

Confirmed: Venues

Seventeen islands and areas are listed. Naoshima, Teshima, Inujima, Megijima, Ogijima, Shodoshima, Oshima, the Takamatsu Port area and the Uno Port area run in all three seasons.

Spring adds the Seto Ohashi Bridge area, Shido and Tsuda, and Hiketa. Autumn adds Honjima, Takamishima, Awashima, Ibukijima and the Utazu area. The home page places Shido-Tsuda and Hiketa in summer instead, so check the final list when the season details are published.

Not Announced: Tickets and Passport

No page we read gives 2028 passport types, prices, sale start dates, early-bird offers, child admission or a sales channel. Benesse Art Site’s page says that during the Triennale you can visit some of its Naoshima art facilities using the Setouchi Triennale Passport, but it gives no price or dates and refers to the Triennale site. We also could not retrieve the 2025 pass price from the official archive, so we are not quoting one.

Finding Naoshima Note: Until prices are announced, do not trust any site that lists a 2028 passport price. Check the official Triennale site, and compare it with the Benesse ticket rules for the individual museums, which stay separate. See our Triennale Passport article for how the pass worked before, and re-check its price against the 2028 announcement.

Confirmed: Ferry Reservation Trial

The committee says it is considering an online reservation and ticketing system for 2028. A trial is scheduled for Saturday November 14 and Sunday November 15, 2026 on two routes: Takamatsu Port – Megijima – Ogijima, and Takamatsu Port – Naoshima (Honmura) – Teshima (Ieura). Booking opened on October 27, 2026 at 12:00. It covers passenger tickets only, at regular fares with no booking charge, and counter sales continue.

Getting Around During the Festival

  • The official site calls Takamatsu Port the Triennale’s mother port and a convenient base.
  • To reduce congestion, it asks visitors not to take cars to islands other than Shodoshima.
  • The official tips say many ferries accept cash only.

Accommodation

The pages we read make no accommodation statement. Our reasoning, not an official one: festival periods tend to be busier, so book your room early if your dates are fixed. The where to stay guide lists options by area.

What to Do Now

  1. Decide the season: spring, summer or autumn.
  2. Watch the official Triennale site for passport news.
  3. Keep your museum tickets separate in your budget.

Details checked on the official Setouchi Triennale and Benesse Art Site pages on 5 November 2026, and will change once more is announced.
