Inujima Seirensho Art Museum Tickets, Hours & Access

One ticket covers both the Inujima Seirensho Art Museum and the Inujima Art House Project: ¥2,100 online or ¥2,300 on-site. Children 15 and under are free. The art facilities on Inujima are closed on Tuesdays to Thursdays from March 1 to November 30, and closed every day from December 1 to the end of February. That closure pattern matters more than the ticket price, so plan your date first. All facts come from Benesse Art Site’s official pages, checked on 5 November 2026.

The official page lists no separate price for the Art House Project alone. Admission to the Seirensho museum is included in the shared ticket, and you buy it first at the Inujima Ticket Center, then walk between the galleries.

We could not confirm from the official pages whether Inujima tickets are tied to a specific time slot. The general ticket page lists only certain facilities (Chichu, Sugimoto Gallery, Kinza, Minamidera, the Lunar part of Ring of Fire and Teshima Art Museum) as date- and time-specific, and Inujima is not on that list. Check the booking page when you buy.

What the Museum Is

The Seirensho museum preserves and reuses the remains of a copper refinery, with environmentally focused architecture by Hiroshi Sambuichi and works by Yukinori Yanagi, according to the official page. It is a different experience from the white-walled museums on Naoshima, built around industrial ruins and island history. Our Inujima art and history article gives the background.

Rules Inside

  • No photographs, videos or sketching in the museum.
  • Mobile phone use is prohibited.
  • Inujima is explored on foot only, according to the official access page, so wear comfortable shoes.

How to Get to Inujima

RouteTimeAdult fareNotes
Hoden (Okayama) – Inujimaabout 10 min¥600Akebono Maritime, fare revised Oct 1, 2026 (Benesse’s page still shows ¥400); cash only; Hoden departures 06:40, 08:00, 11:00, 13:00, 13:45, 15:15, 17:00, 18:30
Miyanoura (Naoshima) – Ieura (Teshima) – Inujimaabout 55 min¥2,450Shikoku Kisen; Miyanoura departures 09:20, 12:10, 14:50

The 15:15 sailing from Hoden does not run when the Inujima art facilities are closed, and the 18:30 does not run on Sundays. The last boat back from Inujima is 18:45 on weekdays and Saturdays, and 17:15 on Sundays. See our Okayama to Inujima guide for both directions.

The Shikoku Kisen route from Miyanoura runs Mondays and Wednesday to Sunday plus holidays from March 1 to November 30, and Mondays, Fridays to Sundays and holidays from December 1 to the end of February. The ferry does not stop at an island whose art museum is closed that day, and service is suspended if both are closed. Since Inujima’s facilities are closed Tuesday to Thursday, the Naoshima route only works on days when both islands’ museums are open. Our Inujima ferry guide covers the crossing in detail, and the Okayama to Inujima guide covers the Hoden route.

Finding Naoshima Note: Pick your day by checking the Inujima closed days first, then the ferry. Many visitors plan the Naoshima side first and discover that Inujima is shut on the day they have free. Carry cash for the ferries, since many island ferries only accept cash, according to the Setouchi Triennale’s own travel tips.
